Copying a Chapter Between Courses

As you use Oxford Insight, you may encounter a situation in which you need to copy one or more chapters from one course into another. Here are two examples of each situation:
  • You created a custom chapter in an earlier course and want to copy it into a new course.
  • OUP has released an updated version of a course, and you would like to copy a new chapter from that updated course into your existing course.

Luckily, copying content from one course to another is easy to do in Oxford Insight. Below are step-by-step instructions for copying a chapter from one course to another. (You can use the same process can be used to copy pages and components.)

How to Copy a Chapter Between Courses

    1. Log in to Oxford Insight.
    2. Go into the first course. This is the course from which you want to copy the chapter.
    3. Click “Content” in the left-hand side navigate and then click “Course Home.”
    4. Switch to Authoring Mode.
    5. Scroll down the course table of contents to the chapter you wish to copy.
    6. Click the “Pin” button on that chapter. This pins it to the top of the Content Library, making it easy to find when you go into the second course.

    8. Click “My Courses.”
    9. Go into the second course. This is the course into which you want to copy the chapter.
    10. Click “Content” in the left-hand side navigate and then click “Course Home.”
    11. Switch to Authoring Mode.
    12. At the top of the course table of contents, click the Add Content button (the blue + sign).
    13. At the top of the Chapter Library that appears, you will see the chapter you pinned listed under the “Pinned” heading.

    15. Click that chapter and then click “Add Chapter.”
    16. The chapter has now been added to your course at the bottom of the table of contents.
    17. To move it to a different location in the table of contents, click the “Reorder” button at the top of the page, drag the newly added chapter up to the desired location, and click “Done.”

Note: When copying a chapter from another course, the icon on that chapter may not appear immediately in your course TOC. Reload the page to confirm that the correct icon is in place.
