Oxford Insight 2025 OI Platform Update

Summer 2025 Platform Update

New tools and exciting features are now available in Oxford Insight with the Summer 2025 platform update. These updates are designed to improve the user experience for both students and instructors in several key areas, including:

  • E-book navigation
  • Student assessment interface
  • Instructor assessment editing
  • Activity Settings interface
  • Help/Support link access

E-book Navigation

Within the Content area of Oxford Insight that houses the eBook, the improved design and functionality of the controls will help students more easily navigate the content within chapter sections without missing important sections.

Buttons now use icons rather than text, and they will navigate through each tabbed content item before navigating to the next page.

Student Assessment Interface

The streamlined assessment interface is now designed to provide students a distraction-free, maximized screen space for taking.

  • Focused screen: Students will now see that the main navigation side panel on the left collapses by default when they enter an assessment from the course Dashboard.
  • Simplified assessment navigation: Assessment navigation controls have been streamlined and moved to the bottom of the page. The activity information panel is now hidden by default and can be viewed anytime via a new button.
  • New start page: Each assessment now has a new start page that shows key assessment settings and more clearly indicates if the assessment is graded or practice and highlights the due date.
  • Simple review: Answer choice-specific feedback (if present) will now display in assessment review mode as well as when the “Check Answer” button is clicked during an assessment (when enabled).
  • Easy next steps: A new “Back to Dashboard” button gives students a quick path back to the course Dashboard to see all of their assignments and due dates.

Instructor Assessment Editing

This one is for you, instructors. And we heard you loud and clear. Many of you took advantage of Oxford Insight’s customizable course editing and then were frustrated to lose your changes when there was a missed “Save” along the way.

Never again.

With this update, clearer, more robust save warnings have been implemented in the assessment and question editor to help prevent any inadvertent exiting from the editor without saving your changes.

Activity Settings Interface

Enhancements to the Activity Settings center also make this key page more intuitive for instructors with the new streamlined design reducing the visual complexity of the page.

In addition, we have added a new chapter filter that enables instructors to quickly locate all resources for a specific chapter. And a new “Basic View” shows only the essential elements for each item (Title, Grading Type, Due Date, Graded, Locked, Attempts) for quick access to the most used settings.

Help/Support Link Access

The in-app “Help” link has been changed from “Self-Service” to “Oxford Insight Support” to make its meaning clearer and the support site now opens in a new browser tab, allowing better display of our support content and easier side-by-side viewing of support content with the Oxford Insight interface.
